Jazz hat seine Wurzeln in Amerika, aber mittlerweile ist auch der „europäische Jazz“ zu einer ganz eigenen musikalischen Sprache geworden, die sich deutlich von der des „Heimatlandes“ unterscheidet. Was passiert und entsteht nun, wenn diese beiden Welten in einem gemeinsamen Projekt wieder zusammenkommen?
„triosence featuring Sara Gazarek“ schlägt eine Brücke zwischen den Musikkulturen und führt dabei ganz unterschiedliche Ästhetiken in einem Projekt zusammen.
Die junge und bereits sehr erfolgreiche Sängerin Sara Gazarek aus Los Angeles ist stark in der amerikanischen Jazz Tradition und der des amerikanischen Songbooks verwurzelt, triosence hingegen verkörpert viele Merkmale des europäischen Jazz und dessen Klangideals.
Triosence-Pianist Bernhard Schüler hat die Musik und zusammen mit Sara Gazarek in fast einjähriger Korrespondenz (ausschließlich über das Internet/Skype) die Texte geschrieben.
Enstanden ist ein Album, dass keine Grenzen scheut und bei bei dem Jazz, Pop, Worldmusic und Klassik zu einem verschmelzen... „where time stands still“

triosence formed by Bernhard Schüler, with Matthias Nowak (bass) and Stephan Emig (drums) has become one of the most successful new comer jazz bands in Germany. “German jazz finally found new faces” (stern, Germany), “the trio that changed our impression of the german jazz to be stiff” (Swingjournal, Japan) or “the new milestone in jazz trio” (Amadeusbuch, Germany) - are some of the latest critics to triosence. Since 1999 triosence has won numerous jazz competitions and national jazz awards such as winner of the national jazz competition “Jugend jazzt”, “1st Ostsee Jazz Festival Prize”, and a CD recording contract with the German national radio network, “Deutschlandfunk”, best newcomer in the international jazz charts in Germany. triosence is not only the name but also describes the concept of the band. The “trio-essence” lies within the emancipation of piano, bass and drums. Each instrument can take the lead, which gives the trio a much wider spectrum of sound. What characterizes the music of triosence the most is its emphasis on melodies and their clarity. That’s not only loved by the critics but makes the music as well accessible for people who haven’t been in touch with jazz before. Stylistically the music of triosence goes beyond boundaries. There are influences of Jazz, Fusion, Folk and World. “...in the collective this mixture is built to an opulent sound.” In Fall 2010 triosence will release their 4th album with SONY Music. This time featuring singer Sara Gazarek from Los Angeles.
